Lavallee's Life Lessons

It's Always Good to be Inspired!

Greetings Warriors,

Last night twas the night before Christmas.

My wife and I usually go to a movie on Christmas eve and we both agreed we wanted to see Rocky Balboa to see if it left us inspired.

I am happy to say that it did and I would encourage anyone that has enjoyed the Rocky series, to check out what appears to be Stallone's final chapter as Rocky.

I thought it was well done and Sylvester not only starred in it, he wrote it and directed it. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Imagine the cash he has made off the Rocky brand alone.

Sylvester is one of the first group of baby boomers to reach 60 years of age in style. Other well knowns leading the boomers in this category are President Bush and Governor Arnold and soon to be 60...Grand Master Ernie Reyes Sr.

The story line was classic and predictable, yet highly enjoyable and sprinkled with Rocky's dumb humor and a few very inspiring moments. There are bound to be some great clips for future motivational get togethers.

I don't want to tell you that he dies in the end, because he doesn't :)

I'll just say that KC and I did enjoy the movie and left respecting and identifying with what appears to be some of Stallone's final message and wisdom as Rocky Balboa.

Here's what I recall of one as he was speaking to his son:

"Life can be tough...very tough. In a tough fight, it doesn't matter how many times you can hit the opponent, what matters is how many times you can take a hit and keep fighting!" - Rocky Balboa

It reminds of something I once heard in a Zig Ziglar seminar, the harder you are on yourself, the easier life will be on you. Great wisdom from both areas of inspiration.

One thing they did very well in the movie, was review the past memories and magical moments before deciding what was next. They say every aging fighter still has one last great fight in him. We have witnessed it in George Foreman and many others over the years.

In Rocky's case, he had something left in him that needed to be satisfied before moving on to the next chapter in his life. As he reviewed his past, there were sad times and great times that were part of the lesson. There were victories and there were setbacks. All part of life's lessons and all valuable in becoming a better person.

It's always good to be inspired and I like to search for as many ways possible to keep throwing fuel on my fire of desire. What we watch, what we hear and what we do or experience are the 3 primary ways we program ourselves.

Last week, I had the pleasure of finishing my week with some 1-on-1 Jiu Jitsu training with David Meyer, co-founder of Master Class Grappling Curriculum. (www.grappling.us)

Then, I had the honor to attend a couple classes on the mat with Professor Pedro Valente at Gracie Academy in Miami. (www.graciemiami.com)

A few hours poolside with a good book, my loyal Rottie and my wife with her 's new Jack Russell puppy. Combine these events with a few fantastic dinners and entertaining movies like this and I am in Holiday Heaven:)

It's always good to be inspired...

I hope you have a fantastic Holiday and get fully recharged and ready to...

Get Fit...Stay Fit and Never Quit in 2007 and beyond. It's going to be a great year.

Merry Christmas!

Osu,
Kyoshi
