Round 2 is over...are you Winning the Fight?
by Kyoshi Steve LaVallee

February is over and Marvelous March Madness is now underway.

How did you do in February? What are your stats telling you?

March is here already...can you believe it? Time flies when you are having this much fun.

There are some very impressive results coming at me these past few days. Several MAUI team members are reporting record breaking results for the first two months of 2007.

That's exciting news for everyone and I am eager to hear from you as well. Before we get going, I would like to first say that I am so grateful for the education and inspiration Mr. Cokinos has been providing to me and many others for the past 25+ years.

Why do I say this?

There are many reasons. One of the main reasons I am sharing in this article is that he taught me to track my numbers and to have the discipline to keep accurate statistics.

Then, he taught me to understand what they are saying. For example, now that the month of February is over, it's time to review your stats and compare them to last years averages and determine which areas are on track and which areas are not.

- Are you creating enough Info Calls?

- Are you enrolling 80% of every 1st Intro you teach?

- Are you collecting 80% Cash to Contract amount?

- Is your active count increasing according to the number of new enrollments?

- Are your exam numbers and overall quality, quantity and spirit on the climb?

- Is your new member and renewal contract amount higher than last years?

These are important questions to ask and your answers will tell you where you should focus your staff training. Accurate stats give us an overview of the vital signs of health or illness in a Martial Arts school.

Here are a few simple tips that may help to make March Madness Marvelous for you.

TIP#1> Review your stats and the entire month of February. Look for what areas of progress and growth you are happiest with. Search for the good stuff first and build on the positive momentum you have created. Compare your month to your averages for 2006.

TIP#2> Praise your staff, as a group as well as individual performance. The greatest management principle in the world is simple. You get more of whatever you recognize and reward. Your positive focus and optimistic approach to the month of March will determine the results that you and your team create.

TIP#3> Reward your staff and yourself for any areas deserving reward. Again, whatever you recognize and reward, you tend to get more of. Money is just one way to reward people. There are many and I always encourage a combination of incentives.

TIP#4> Set your goals for March and review them with your team. You are well aware of the power of Goal Setting. Remember, a goal that is properly set is halfway met. Put them on paper and share them with your team on a daily basis. Stay very focused on hitting your target numbers and objectives...NO EXCUSES!

TIP#5> Prepare for Victory! Designing a Massive Action Plan (M.A.P.) and determining the best way to implement and take massive action is vital to your success and consistent progress and growth.

The greater clarity you have, the greater clarity your team will have. Prepare yourself for victory and train your team to win. Champions must train daily to stay on their game.

You are leading your team to victory. Your staff, your students and the many families you serve in your community.

Whenever you are put in a leadership role...TAKE CHARGE!

FINAL TIP AND SUGGESTION:

Send me your February Kaizen Report and $tats ASAP.

I'd love to see your Victories and have a statistical overview of your school. It's always good to have a second set of eyes take a look at your numbers and give you feedback.

Final reminder to reserve your room and book your flight for upcoming Warriors Weekend.

Staff Training Tips:

The more you know, the more you can help them grow.

How well do you know your staff members goals and objectives?

Do you have discussions with them over their goals...personal as well as professional?

Here are five areas that I like to help my team develop specific goals & objectives.

#1> Martial Arts & Fitness-We all have been brought together through the Martial Arts. It creates a special bond that is based on a mutual respect and common interests. It brought us together and it will keep us together for the long haul.

#2> Business & Career-Where would they like to be in the next 3-5 years with their career? What does their future look like with you and your business? If you have a clear vision and a plan for their career path, they will be much more productive and positive to work with and train with.

#3> Financial-Helping them identify and develop an action plan to achieve financial success is such a powerful benefit for them as well as yourself. Most people do better with coaching and guidance in this area.

#4> Relationships-Another area that most people could use a little guidance and coaching. If you have ever seen anyone go through a bad relationship, you are well aware that it can have a dramatic impact on their performance.

#5> Personal Self Development-When staff members are actively reading, learning and listening to Auto "U", everyone wins. Besides the coaching you provide, imagine each of your team members listening and learning from the likes of Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn and many of the same personal development Gurus that you listen to.

A great example I can share is that I have had all my staff member watch The Secret DVD and a few of them have watched it several times. It gave them additional inspiration and encouragement to take their game to the next level.

Teaching and training a student from White Belt to Black Belt is an exciting process.

Guiding and coaching a student from White Belt to Instructor level is even more rewarding.

Training and mentoring them to Martial Arts Millionaire status is an unbelievable experience.

I speak from first hand experience and I hope to see many more in the near future.

Best of Success!
Osu,
Kyoshi
