Lavallee's Life Lessons

Are you Conditioning yourself for Success?

This weeks classroom message is Train-your-Brain, which is a great reminder to include mental training to your overall conditioning program.

We are all programmed primarily by what we see, what we hear and what we actually do.

You watch a video on Muay Thai knees and you are seeing the skill being demonstrated by a Muay Thai Champion or teacher, you hear him as he describes the details of each technique.

Now, you write down some notes (you are now doing) and the next day in class, you practice the techniques on the pads with a training partner. Very simple sequence.

My question for you is...are you conditioning yourself for success?

Are you purposely deciding what you are going to watch, listen to and/or take action on?

There is so much great information available to us these days, you can literally gain an education just listening to audio CD's in your car.

The key is to decide in advance what you are going to watch, what you are going to listen to and what you are going to do. With so much information available, you may need to be a bit selective and focus more on one or two things or you may experience information overload.

If this happens, you can actually shut down all information and revert back to allowing crap to just flow into your brain. Meaning, you will just turn on the radio or TV and absorb the flavor of the day. The you become what T. Harv Eker calls a crap magnet.

Formal education will make you a living...self education will make you a fortune.

-- Jim Rohn

Train your Brain...

One of the most effective ways to program yourself for success and achievement is to fill your mind with positive thoughts and ideas. This can be done by reading, listening and watching inspirational and educational materials.

Combine this with positive self-talk and affirmations that motivate you to take constant action toward your goals. Champions understand the importance of conditioning their mind as well as their body.

Olympic Champions and Masters in the Martial Arts... are known to frequently use these powerful tools and more to better prepare themselves for Peak Performance.

Jim Rohn says that fear, doubt and worry are three of biggest enemies of human potential.

They are killers of ambition and motivation.

For many people, their biggest enemy is their own limited thinking and the feeling that they are just not good enough. Some people even compare themselves to others in a negative fashion.

Most people put themselves down and fill their mind with fears, uncertainties and doubt.

Better known as F.U.D.'s

Putting yourself down and using negative self-talk can be very damaging to your desire and can cause permanent damage to your chances of great success and achievement.

If you constantly remind yourself of past negative experiences, you will actually lower your self-esteem and damage your confidence.

On the flip side of the coin, you can lift yourself up by consciously absorbing positives and training yourself to keep positive thoughts and ideas in your head.

As simple as this is, most people don't do it consistent enough to have impact.

ACTION T-N-T>TODAY-NOT-TOMORROW!

Experts in human behavior say that it takes 21 days to develop a new habit.

Take the next 21 days to flood your mind with tons of the good stuff.

NO NEGATIVE TALK....NO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS...NO NEGATIVE ATTITITUDE.

Nothing but positive thoughts & ideas and input is allowed!

You will be amazed and impressed with the results. Just like your physical muscles, you can build your mental muscles by exercising them. My advice and encouragement is to pick up the pace and flood your brain.

- Watch the Secret DVD again

- Look for Movies that inspire you

- Read Jeffrey Gitomer's Little Gold Book of "YES" attitude

- Plug in some audio CDs by Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins or Brian Tracy

Practice and repeat positive affirmations and quotes to yourself, over and over again.

Here's one of my favorites:

I am healthy, wealthy, happy and fit...with a fighting spirit that will never quit!

If you are interested in joining me by making this your best year ever, you'll review these tips and put them into action. I'll be perfectly honest with telling you that I am very selfish in my motivation for passing along this advice.

I prefer to be associated with positive people that are making great progress in life.

I try to avoid people that constantly bitch and moan about life, they are a drag.

When you are working progressively to improve yourself and make yourself better, you light a candle of hope for everyone you touch.

Be that person that sparks others to greatness.

Best of Success!

Kyoshi
