Your Net Worth is directly influenced by your Network!
When I first heard this, it caused me look back a bit and recognize how much my Net Worth had actually grown because of expanding and improving my Network.
Networking with great people that are progressive and forward in their thinking has really made a huge difference in my life and I am confident it will in yours as well.
Building a powerful network is fun and can be very beneficial to your thinking in many areas. For example, a strong local network of other successful business people can lead to sharing valuable resources and can also lead to referrals for them as well as you.
A strong network within your own dojo and community is so easy to create and everyone wins from the effort to do so. Amongst your own student body, you probably have some of the most influential people in your community. In Syracuse and South Florida, we have successful Real Estate agents, investors, builders, contractors, etc...
In Florida alone, we have students that are lawyers, doctors, accountants, school teachers, school officials, small business owners, as well as a judge and the Mayors daughter.
Building a strong network within the Martial Arts Industry has also been extremely powerful for me and many of my friends in the arts. The EFC Board of Directors, along with Ernie Reyes, the Kovar family, Fred Degerberg, Herman Ocasio, Frank Cucci, Pedro Valente and so many others have been instrumental to my success....and theirs.
The entire MAUI Team is filled with talent and experience that is such a caring and sharing group of highly successful and very committed professional school owners.
They are not only very talented at business, they are awesome Martial Artists and getting better all the time. Most of them are cross training and becoming extremely versatile with Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, MMA, weaponry, XMA and more.
It's very motivating and exciting to break a sweat along with sharing business ideas.
Love your family...choose your friends!
If you are reading this, you probably already know this and are nodding your head in agreement with me. I feel very fortunate for having a very supportive and loving family.
However, none of them were ever in business for themselves. They taught me to have a strong work ethic, but have very little knowledge and experience in business.
I can think all the way back to when I was just a kid. The friends and people that I met at the dojo and though the Martial Arts, always seemed to be good people and brought out the best in me.
In contrast, looking back at any trouble I got into as a kid (Very rare occasions:) it was always with one of the neighborhood kids or school buddies. As a teenager, I recognized this early on and decided to dedicate myself to the dojo and my Martial Arts practice.
Not only was that a great decision for me, it has lead to plenty of unexpected benefits for my family and helped me build an outstanding name within the community I grew up in.
Who knew then what it would lead to? I certainly didn't. However, I did recognize very early in life that certain people brought out the best in me and had the potential to influence me in a very positive way.
There were also a few people from the past that created a curiosity to the dark side.
Lay down with a dirty dog and you are certain to get fleas.
My point is this. You have a tremendous network of highly successful people that have a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge. You can be a valuable resource to them and they can me a valuable resource to you.
If you truly want to earn your M/B/A=>Massive Bank Account, build a network of friends and associates that are likely to raise you up and not bring you down.
You should always do the same.
ACTION T-N-T=> Think of a few people you would like to network with and reach out to them. Make a phone call, drop them an e-mail, offer to share an idea with them that may be useful to their success and achievement. If you get in the habit of spending time each week to building a strong network, you will discover that true wealth is in the relationships we develop. Go for it!
Staff Training Tip:
Provide your staff with access to your Success Library:
By now, you probably have quite a success library you've accumulated. Videos, audio programs, books, magazines and articles that have helped to inspire you to a higher level of performance.
Would any of your staff benefit from reading the latest Eagle Express or listening to the talking Newsletter. How about ready the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People?
I have some members of our team that eat it up as quickly as you can provide it. There are others that you have to force feed them to listen to an audio program in their car.
Which do you think are accelerating their career progress?
Several years back, I started purchasing books for my staff and doing required reading assignments and it really made a difference in many of them. Influencing your staff to develop positive study habits is a win-win benefit for you and them.
Sensei Haley is a great example of the principle of learning. He is the Chief Instructor and partner in our Lighthouse Point dojo. He is an avid reader and student of Auto University.
His career path has been aggressive and progressive. He is such a positive person to deal with and a joy to watch grow. He keeps his thinking forward and is always ready to train, talk business and/or buckle down and work his butt off.
Once I realized how hungry he was and how eager he was to succeed, I began to feed him all the right information and provided him with full access to my library. Now he has built one of his own and he is great at influencing his own staff to plug in.
The more they learn...the more they will earn.
As their instructor, boss, success coach and mentor, you have tremendous influence with your professional team members. Go above and beyond to provide them with the tools that have helped you succeed. Arm them with knowledge and everyone wins!
