Quality-Quantity-Spirit!

Better known as QQS... USA Black Belt Champions is a great example of a united team that takes great pride in their Quality, Quantity and Spirit.

When it comes to building a winning team, there is nothing more exciting than watching it grow in quality, quantity and spirit.

Everyone loves quality. Quality service, skill and people.

Each member of a team can either bring the quality rating up, or can bring the quality rating down. The goal should be to always contribute to raising quality and never lowering the quality of your team.

After quality, it’s important to have quantity. Why?

Strong teams need a strong bench. There is great strength in great numbers. A team that is resource rich will be able to survive anything, especially if they support each other in victory and defeat.

Spirit is the overall morale and energy of the team.

A team with great spirit has a high level of morale and motivation. Everyone performs better when the spirit of the team is strong and healthy. If you are around others that have a positive spirit, it has a very positive influence on your and everyone else.

Be a great team player, everytime you walk into the dojo, think about how you can influence the QQS of your class and your team.

At the dojo, at home, at school, in sports and business.

Think of every opportunity you have to be a positive influence on the QQS of all the teams that you are part of. Think about bringing a Black Belt Excellence attitude to everything you do.

FYI=>Great Stuff you may want to know about...

Syracuse Team will be hosting a record number of Black Belt Graduates on June 2nd.

Syracuse's Black Belt Spectacular will be another record breaking event for USABBC. For the first time ever, Sensei Nolan will be representing Team Dewitt with two Black Belts graduating. Liverpool, Cicero, Clay and Manlius will all be represented as well, totaling over 80 graduates being promoted to 1st-2nd-3rd and 4th Degree Black Belt.

Sensei Hafner has begun teaching Intro Lessons at our newest Brighton Dojo in Rochester .

Congratulations Sensei Hafner on breaking ground in a brand new area for USABBC.

Our South Florida team will be hosting Martial Arts University International's Warriors Weekend on June 7th-9th in Ft. Lauderdale. The MAUI Mentoring Team continues to grow at a strong pace and the depth of talent is phenomenal.

Training Tip: Focus on improving your own personal QQS rating.

Think for a minute about the quality of your own Martial Arts attitude and skills.

How's your details? Are you striving to improve the quality of your technique?

How is your ability to recall your skills under pressure?

As I prepare to test for my next belt in Jiu Jitsu with Pedro Valente, he requires that I have all of the Gracie Self Defense System down pat with quick recall and attention to detail.

He is very impressed with my grappling skills on the ground, mainly because I instinctively do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when hit the ground. BJJ is what I know when it goes to the ground.

However, when someone attacks me with a lapel grab or a front choke, I may recall my favorite Kenpo move or an Extreme Hisardut technique that Shihan Moti has taught me.

I may instinctively go into a Muay Thai clinch and start kneeing the crap out of my attacker.

This requires me to think about the Jiu Jitsu skills that Professor Valente has taught me, with the exact detail he wants and deserves to see.

After Quality...come Quantity. Are you training enough?

Are you giving your Martial Arts and fitness the attention it deserves?

You and I are very lucky to have the World Class resources we have. The key is to maximize those resources and opportunities to become the best we can be.

Being surrounded my so many high caliber Martial Artist and having Gold's Gym right next door to my dojo, there is no excuse for not being in top shape year round.

How about you? Are you maximizing your resources and opportunities?

Finally, is the spirit of your training and your mind set.

Do you have a Warriors Spirit?

Do you bring a positive mind set and Champion's Spirit to the mat each and every time you train? Do you share your spirit with your training partner and class mates?

It's been said that the way you do anything, is often the way you do everything.

If that's true, then my advice and encouragement is to constantly work to improve your own personal QQS rating, on and off the mat. In the dojo and in life outside the dojo.

Train Hard...Enjoy the Rewards!

Osu,
Kyoshi
