Always Team up – Never Give up!
Everyday in some way, we are all part of a team. It may be your family, it may be your dojo team, it may be at work team. If you want to be part of a winning team that is making a difference in people's live, a great question to ask yourself is:
"How can I be an A-rated Team Player and become a valuable asset to my team?"
When it comes to high levels of achievement, great teams can create dreams.
When a student qualifies and enters into our BBC Training Program, we are well aware that there will be some obstacles to overcome in their journey. With over 30 yrs. of building a powerful team of highly skilled and dedicated Black Belt Champions, we have plenty of real life experience in the power of teaming up and never giving up.
When a parent teams up with their child’s Sensei to help their child, everyone wins. If they all decided to give up on the child, everyone loses and nobody wins.
When a Sensei teams up with a student to overcome some of life’s challenges, everyone grows stronger and everyone wins. If either of them throws in the towel and gives up, both of their spirits and hopes become weaker and everyone loses.
“There are no problems we cannot solve together, and very few we can solve by ourselves.” -- President Lyndon Johnson
There is tremendous long term benefit for all involved when we all learn to team up and never give up . There is great potential for permanent damage if we all give up. Developing a non-quitting spirit is always easier when you team up with others that are as committed to success as you are.
Whenever you team up, everyone wins and everyone learns. Having a Non-Quitting Spirit is a quality all Hi-Achievers display.
The habits and attitudes you practice and develop in the dojo, will show up in all other areas of your life. Let’s all commit to developing winning habits, in and out of the dojo.
FYI=>Great Stuff you may want to know about...
Pinch me...am I awake or is this a dream?
This past Wednesday night, I went to Miami for my private lesson in Jiu Jitsu with Pedro Valente. These past few weeks have been very interesting for me, as Pedro puts me through the final steps, stages and performance checks for my next belt in the Gracie Jiu Jitsu system.
I never know what to expect. Am I going to be in a competitive grappling game with one of Pedro's up and coming talents? Or, is it going to be an intensive check on my self defense and the details of my required ground skills?
I love it, however, it's definitely been a very interesting and mysterious experience.
This past Wednesday, I walk into the private training room, with padded walls everywhere.
Pedro follows, along with one of his other Black Belts, then Grand Master Helio Gracie enters the room and has a seat in the corner of the room.
The founder of Gracie Jiu Jitsu and truly a living legend. I was in awe and felt like a kid again going through my skill checks with my first teacher preparing me for Black Belt.
Grand Master Helio observed, gave some corrective feedback tips and then he dropped down to the mat and asked me to mount him and attack him. He wanted to show me how a 95 yr. old man, 135 lbs. person could use Jiu Jitsu to defend himself against a larger and stronger opponent.
Just being in his presence was an unbelievable experience. Having the opportunity to be on the mat with him, blew my mind. I left so excited, I never got any photos, so I went back
for another private lesson on Saturday, just so I could get a pic of Grand Master Helio Gracie awarding me my Purple Belt...what an honor and privelage.
After my lesson, I go home to prepare for my date night with my beautiful wife, we had a
Bar/Bah Mitzva to attend in Boca Raton. My good friend and Black Belt student, Doc Kessler really knows how to throw a party. Who am I sitting next to for dinner and conversation?
Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion...Michael Moorer. Very nice guy and totally into the Mixed Martial Arts scene and fighters. By the way, he predicted that Rampage would KO Chuck Liddel and I made home in time to witness it happen.
The Martial Arts lifestyle is absolutely an amazing lifestyle that just keeps getting better and better all the time...
Pinch me...am I awake or is this a dream?
Training Tip: Always search for the next level of progress & growth.
Would you rather stay in the game or be watching from the sidelines?
As much as I love to watch fights and great Martial Arts. It's much more fun knowing that
I am still in the game, climbing and growing, instead of just watching from the sidelines.
It's always a humbling, yet very motivating experience to realize how much more there is to learn. Although we all need to constantly work on improving our fundamentals, it really is amazing how much more there is to learn.
In the Martial Arts, in business and in life.
I can promise you that you will last longer and stay stronger, if you stay actively involved in the game. What game am I referring to?
The game of progressive achievement. Also known as progress, growth and change.
We must always search for the next level of progress, growth and change.
In our Martial Arts training, in our business and career, in our financial lives, as well as in the relationships we have on a personal and professional level.
The more progressive and the more aggressive we stay, the more progress we make.
If the tree stops growing, it begins to die.
Why is Grand Master Helio Gracie still actively involved at 95 years old?
Maybe it's because he decided to stay actively involved.
Why is Mr. Cokinos still so active in his business and career?
Maybe it's because happy people never retire.
Grand Master Helio Gracie and Mr. Nick Cokinos, two living legends that are model examples of excellence in action, always searching for the next level of progress, growth and change.
Train Hard...Enjoy the Rewards!
