Lavallee's Life Lessons

Champions Never Quit!

The odds are always in our favor, if we just keep on trying.

The power to hang in there in spite of challenges, in the face of difficulty or defeat, this is the heart of a Champion. Never give up, never give in, never quit.

Talent along does not make someone a Champion. There are plenty of unsuccessful people that possess talent. Persistence and the determination to succeed, these are qualities that will take you farther in life.

Most people give up just when they are about to succeed. They quit on the one yard line. They give up in the last minute of the game, sometimes only a foot away from the winning touch down.

"You become a Champion by fighting one more round. When things are tough, you fight one more round!" -- James Corbett

They say that most people that drown, are just inches from the surface and inches from survival. If they had only hung in there and kept trying, they would have survived and lived.

Life is filled with fun and excitement. It is also filled with challenges and difficult times. To become highly successful in anything, you are bound to experience some failures and setbacks in your journey to excellence.

This is when you must persist and stay the course. Look at every obstacle and setback as part of the test, and you are going to pass the test with flying colors.

How? By hanging in there and giving your best effort over and over again.

Imagine if your parents gave up on you when you were a baby learning to walk.

How about when you were a kid learning to ride a bike?

Have you ever tried to ski or skate?

Chances are you have done all of the above and each experience requires a certain amount of persistence and determination before you experience the joy of achievement.

"Fall down seven times...get up eight!" -- Old Chinese Proverb

Whether we are talking about being a great Black Belt Champion, or becoming a Champion in life, you must be ready to persist and overcome obstacles that are bound to get in your way.

In the Martial Arts, in sports, in business and life, there are going to be plenty of times that will test your will to win. If you want to win, you must never give up and never quit!

Congratulations to Sensei Dennis Emond and Instructor Ernie Karlson, on the Grand Opening Celebration of their Palm Beach Gardens dojo. They had a great turn out and tremendous support from their #130 active students, along with families and friends.

They also had the support of our XMA Demo Team and Mr. Lawton Llewellyn taught and excellent Kid Safe Seminar that was educational and fun for the kids and their parents.

After spending a few hours meeting and greeting the students of PBG and watching our team in action, I left with a fantastic feeling of pride and privilege to see our system being carried on in such an excellent fashion.

Many people thanked me for opening the dojo in their community and they were very complimentary of Sensei Emond and Mr. Karlson.

Progress...growth and change...

In two weeks, we have our Grand Opening Celebration at our Brighton Dojo in Rochester NY and an Open House Celebration at our Boca Dojo in Boca Raton, Florida.

Lot's of exciting events and activities on the calendar.

Thanks for your support!

Osu,
Kyoshi
