This is authentic Okinawan Matsumura Seito (orthodox) Shorin Ryu Karate & Kobudo.
This video contains change body drills also known as Tai-sabaki. How to evade attacks. Here the first basic level of these drills is presented where the attacker is simply applying a wrist grab. The defender or student learns three basic body shifting counters to this grab. These change body drills will become increasingly important in fighting and higher level techniques.
The first Kicking Drill works on basics of kicking during a fight. Learning distance, timing, rhythm and speed are the essentials to delivering properly timed kicks. Four kicks are learned, Front, Side, Front/Side Kick (an old version of the round house kick) and the spinning back kick.
Wansu Kata is unique in that it does not follow the same foot pattern as other kata. The signature move in this kata is the Crane stance followed with the "dumping" technique. This Kata teaches grabbing an attacker and throwing or "dumping" them to the ground. Bunkai or Combat Applications are shown.
