By Lee Wedlake, Jr.

Further Insights into Kenpo is a collection of master instructor Lee Wedlake's works published since 1982 in Black Belt, Inside Kung-Fu, Karate Illustrated, Martial Arts Professional and others. As a follow up to his Kenpo Karate 101, What the Beginner and the Black Belt Should Know, this book is a "how-to" book as well as a historical reference for students of Kenpo Karate.

Technical articles on using footwork, checks, knees, and elbows for self-defense, the format of Kenpo self-defense techniques, as well as comparative analysis of Kenpo and Filipino Escrima are here. You'll find "How To" articles on judging Kenpo forms and chapters for karate school owners on setting up seminars and special programs. Historical articles about Ed Parker and the aftermath of his passing, information on training methods for street and sparring and body guarding are also included.

Lee Wedlake is a veteran school owner, tournament competitor, author and sought-after seminar instructor. He has taught across the United States and in Australia, Denmark, Sweden, England and Ireland. Competitively, he was the first Kenpo stylist to break into the Top Ten national rankings in black belt forms in 1980. Karate Illustrated magazine's July 1983 issue called him one of the "eleven prominent instructors" in the country. He was nominated to Inside Kung-Fu magazine's Kenpo Instructor of the Year, was included in the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and nominated for the President's Service Award. As a personal student of Kenpo master Ed Parker, Professor Wedlake brings to light more aspects of the history, structure and development of American Kenpo.
