Guge Gongji was one of the Master Long's best selling books. Advanced Guge Gongji is an enhanced study of the biomechanical targets of the human anatomy which control natural locomotion, i.e., the ability to stand, walk, run, or otherwise initiate normal movement without failure or pain. In other words, as intended in this study, damage to these targets obstructs an attackers ability to pursue you or otherwise continue with an assault upon you. In the plainest terms, an opponent with a broken ankle or knee would have great difficulty in pursuing you; an opponent with broken fingers would not be able to grab and hold you; and an opponent whose arm has been snapped at the elbow would not be able to strike you with the fist on that arm because the use of the elbow joint is necessary to control the arm. Therefore, the essence of Guge Gongji in Lian Shi Kung Fu is to break the mechanical ability of an opponent to attack or otherwise continue to pursue you. All but one of the targets in the study are non-lethal and efficient for use in close combat and grappling situations.
