After becoming an All-Japan Free-Fighting champion, Demura sensei concentrated his martial arts practice on karate and the art of Okinawan kobudo. Now a foremost authority in kobudo, Demura sensei is a member of the prestigious Black Belt Hall of Fame (1969, Instructor of the Year; 1975, Man of the Year) and travels the world to teach these arts. The eku-bo also known as the kai- is an oar used by Okinawan fisherman. Like so many other framing tools and work implements, the Okinawans developed amazing techniques with which to use the oar as a weapon of self-defense. Indeed, most of the techniques for using the eku bo are much like those of the bo, another Okinawan weapon. In this DVD, Demura sensei covers basic stances, proper grips, defense movements, blocks and counter-strikes.
